DIAMOND DOGS DOG TRAINING
We rescued our dog in September 2024. Within the first few weeks she exhibited signs of aggression towards strangers and children. After working with her ourselves for a couple of weeks we realized we were going to need help from a professional and that is how we got in touch with Manny Alonso from Diamond Dogs Dog Training.
The first time he came to our house for an evaluation was emotionally very difficult and we honestly weren’t sure we wanted to go through with the training course. The beginning of the course establishes dominance, letting your dog know that YOU are in charge, not them. You don’t ever hurt your dog in this process, but it is a struggle between wills and you have to win.
Realizing we would never really be able to trust our dog around children, we did decide to go through with the training. The first week was TOUGH! We followed Manny’s instructions and trained every day. And every day got a little bit better. Our pup WANTED to learn, she WANTED to know what we expected from her.
Every time you introduce a new element in the training it is a little rough on both you and your dog. It takes a while to get used to them but you will and it doesn’t take long.
I believe the weekly sessions with Manny were instrumental in our dog’s development. Meeting with Manny and having him (basically an outsider and someone our dog isn’t used to obeying) train with her rather than only us helped reinforce the fact that WE are in charge, not our dog.
The training has helped bring up our dog’s confidence and she has gone from being scared of almost everyone and everything to thinking everyone is her friend. She is so much happier and so much more confident today than before we met Manny. He truly changed our lives.
